Back from another festival

  • Mood: Tired but doing great
  • Music: Wheel in the Sky by Journey

Well, we have returned from yet another festival. We participated in the Mountain Harvest Festival this past weekend. We met some great, like minded people and were happy for the opportunity to meet them and the experience. The weather held out for the most part (John had a rain hit for about an hour on Saturday) and the place where the event was held was beautiful!!

With the good encounters of people also comes the jerks. We did run into some very closed minded people who asked if our wands were back-scratchers and if our athames were letter openers just to provide a few examples. They got upset about the spiritual aspect of our items and had to say something to just be mean. Even without our pieces having a magical element, they are great pieces of artistic craftsmanship and are one of kind and it's sad that people can't look past their own ignorance about something to see a beautiful piece of art.

We did have some great finds at the festival to include some drums made by some very good people and bartered for some fantastic grown vegetables and farm fresh eggs. I will always have a smile when I think of the people who we were able to cross paths with and the great experiences we enjoyed.

John was the first person to submit his piece of art in the art contest on Friday. The piece was alive and just plain beautiful. It had fairies, flowers and a custom made cedar frame. In my opinion the judges were afraid of bold, different art. There were a few artists who ventured to go outside the mold and do something different, something really artistic and were glanced over for their effort. The event was for those who wanted a certain type of a acrylic painting on a common type of canvas. I am glad he competed and represented our clan. I am very proud of him. His piece from the last competition received a very large amount compliments and notice. It was a good feeling for outside people to see the true artistic endeavor and comment on it.

It's time to get ready for our October festival where we will be at the college in Grand Junction. We will not be allowed to sell our wooden athame knives though, I will go on a rant about that at some other time.

Enjoy life's many blessings.

Good Day,

Bria
